For the Book of this October, I would like to recommend "Life of Chopin" by Franz Liszt.

Liszt, both a friend and rival of Chopin, wrote the first biography of Chopin in 1849, the year of Chopin’s death.
It is rare for one great composer to write with such insight and admiration about another, making this book not only a biography but also a tribute from one genius to another.
Through this book, we can also deepen our understanding of Chopin’s music and the sensitivity behind it.
This October also marks the start of the International Chopin Piano Competition (held every five years, beginning October 3rd).
